It’s always disconcerting when you find yourself experiencing symptoms you are not accustomed to feeling. Breast pain is one of those symptoms that can be annoying, uncomfortable and even frightening when you do not know the cause.

Breast pain can be caused by any number of health issues or by regular day-to-day experiences that women have to deal with.

Common causes of breast pain include:

Women often experience breast pain when their breasts are swelling due to ovulation.

Women may experience breast pain during their menstrual cycle.

Breast cysts may cause breast pain at times.

Breast surgery is often associated with breast pain.

Pregnancy or other hormonal changes can sometimes cause breast pain.

Some claim that a fatty acid imbalance may cause breast sensitivity and pain.

A side effect of using certain medications can at times be a cause of breast pain.

Lack of proper support with or without a bra can cause breast pain.

Affected areas of a woman’s body that are actually not in the breast can be a source of pain that may travel to the breasts, even though as a problem originating elsewhere.

Breast cancer symptoms include breast pain in a small percentage of women.

Women may choose to see a doctor if they experience any breast pain in order to feel confident that nothing is seriously, physiologically wrong. It is recommended to see a doctor if the breast pain persists consistently on a daily basis for more than two weeks.

Today I received a very helpful response to the free self defense class information request I put out a number of months ago. I had received very little response on this before today and was thrilled to receive the message in my inbox.

A very helpful gentleman, whose name appears on the booklet that I am about to mention, has sent me an e-book called “Power Perceived is Power Achieved.”

He gave me permission to distribute this e-book to all who were interested as a helpful training tool for women learning self defense…..for free…

If you are interested in receiving this e-book, please email me at womenspeak@thewomenoftheworld.com to receive this free book about self defense.

Every little bit of training and knowledge helps and it is so important that we continue to empower ourselves with additional self-confidence and by learning ways that we can protect ourselves in this world we live in.

Women Imprisoned for Miscarriage

Women imprisoned for miscarriage: Is this possible? YES.

Check out this article about a new Utah law against women in the works. This one has just GOT TO GET YOUR ATTENTION!!! Seriously….You should lose sleep over this one.

Quote from the Salt Lake Tribune, “The Senate on Thursday approved HB12 on a vote of 24-4, criminalizing a woman’s “intentional, knowing, or reckless act” leading to a pregnancy’s illegal termination.”

Here’s the deal. A woman allegedly chose to have a man beat her up in order to force a miscarriage to happen. This apparently appalled the Utah Senate and the House so that they began developing this bill, which dictates that a woman cannot be charged if she gets a legal abortion, but she CAN BE CHARGED WITH MURDER if she performs any kind of reckless act that leads to a miscarriage, what they are calling an “illegal termination.”

This is so screwed up on so many levels….

The Salt Lake Tribune journalist makes a very good point in discussing the circle of violence that occurs in domestic violence scenarios. The number of women who return to their husbands or boyfriends after a violent act has been committed by that “significant other” is tremendous and it was mentioned that a return on the woman’s part when pregnant or who gets pregnant afterward, could be considered a reckless act leading to getting beaten up again, having a miscarriage as a result and then being put in prison for murder. How about that? Another example of punishing victims.

There is a sort of psychological turmoil that abused women go through that others should not attempt to judge. There is also a potentially extreme emotional struggle that a woman goes through after experiencing a miscarriage, sometimes experiencing a terrible state of depression, and these are the women who will be called into question, during these already difficult times, to determine if they did anything that may have caused their miscarriage. Nice, eh?

Those who are opponents of gender equality do not play fair.

I have so many analogies and thoughts that could be shared here…. But I think this story should be horrific enough. If you have to watch a man’s head get sawed off, you don’t need any kind of descriptive narrative to increase the impact of that experience.

I am hoping that all who read this story, via one of the links in this blog or just read this blog alone, have some sort of recognition of the way that this states so boldly how insignificant the rights of women are in the minds of so many in America….and anyone familiar with a number of other countries that are well-known for oppressing women…well, in many of those countries their daily abuses are so significant in percentage of occurrences upon women that they are not living under the veil of lies that creates in American women the belief that we are already treated as equals… We need to wake up and stop this.

Check it out. Research it. Look at the different news stories. Make phone calls. Write about it. Do something…whatever you know how to do at this particular moment in time.

Maybe you will end up pregnant, on vacation in Utah, and slip on some ice, miscarry and go to jail. Then you would wish you had at least tried…. Never going to happen? Maybe it will and maybe it won’t. Maybe it will happen to your daughter, niece, friend, mother, cousin… Who knows….

We need to stand up and speak out. Women must support women if we don’t want the injustices to continue or worsen. Clearly, conditions for women, at least women in America, will worsen if we do not act.

Go Red for Women

Go Red for Women is a movement by the American Heart Association. Click on the link on the first words in this blog “Go Red for Women” to learn all about this movement.

They have been branding the color “red” – which happens to be my favorite color – to signify the fight against heart disease in an attempt to save thousands of women’s lives each year. They are working to break the stereotype that men are the one’s who have heart problems and in doing so, encourage women to be more aware of their health conditions and to seek treatment early enough to prevent the unnecessary deaths of the many women who have not paid attention to the symptoms of heart attack and other health issues under the false impression that they were not at risk.

Heart Disease Education for Women

The go red for women website explains that not only does heart disease not only affect men, but it also affects young women, as well as older women. They also hold out the proven hope that dangerous issues from heart disease are preventable.

They have provided information regarding a vast array of ways that you personally can support the cause of Go Red for Women.

Check out the website and buy a piece of jewelry or a clothing garment or an umbrella or any number of other options available to help support the cause or simply choose to donate to the cause or write a blog about it and link to the site to help spread the word about prevention for heart disease in women or contact the American Heart Association to learn about other ways that you can help.

Without each and every one of us using the tools we have at our disposal and the gifts we are privledged with to help with the many different and important causes for women, there is one less supporter….one less supporter doubled, tripled, quadrupled, and so on and so forth. You can make a difference in this world and feel good while doing it by picking a little something every day to do toward your own progress and the progress of other women of the world.

Example of Scare Tactics Used Against Women

Scare tactics are still alive and well in the world and are used for all sorts of controlling and manipulative purposes. Women have regularly been victimized by scare tactics of all sorts to both prevent their progress and disable the unification of women through subversive tactics that include scare tactics.

I just read a brief bit of news about one of these scare tactics that is being used to try to prevent women from showing support to their very own ability to receive preventative healthcare to reduce the number of STDs and deaths as a result of cancer and other various forms of illness that target women and kill them if not treated quickly enough. (No, I am not saying that STDs and cancer only target women.)

There are, however, unique health issues for women and symptoms, etc. and this is why women’s clinics are necessary to aid in the overall health of women.

Reading a post in a reproductive health website, I learned a little bit about the subversive ways that scare tactics are being used against women in an attempt to block their ability to receive healthcare in minority communities. If there is not enough support in the community itself, of course, it will be more difficult to provide that healthcare. Therefore, whomever it is that is interested in preventing women from receiving sufficient healthcare has been spreading rumors that the reproductive health clinics, which provide a number of different medical provisions for women, is a part of a plot to legally kill minorities in America through the use of abortion and the placement of women’s health clinics that also include abortion as one of their services, in the minority communities.

IT IS NOT ABOUT ABORTION

If you are against abortion, certainly fighting your pro-life fight would not need to include also fighting against the other forms of health care that women are in desperate need of. Creating and spreading false rumors about a conspiracy to kill all black people through the use of women’s health clinics is a scare tactic that preys on only the less educated, or better stated, the ones who truly need the provisions of a health care clinic in their neighborhoods.

If you want to fight to prevent abortion, perhaps straying away from being a subversive murderer of women by spreading rumors about genocide to scare women away from the very facilities that are providing them with the help they need in order to live longer, healthier lives, would be recommended. Otherwise, using those sorts of tactics is simply going against what the point of “pro-life” is supposed to be.

Going into the cause of being for or against abortion is not at all what this blog is talking about. Argue your case for it or against it, it is a very emotional debate, but this blog is about the fact that it is completely inhumane to continue to attempt to use scare tactics to harm uneducated women and prevent them from receiving the education that they need in order to maintain both their own health and the health of their children, as well as the education that they need in order to provide that to their children and family members in order to create a more unified and safer world for women as a whole.

AVOID MANIPULATION TACTICS THAT ONLY END UP HARMING WOMEN

The manipulation tactics that people utilize in their belief that the means is worth the ends is contradictory to any kind of just or helpful ends at all and it is certainly in no way supportive of women helping women.

I read this post written by Pamela Merritt on RH Reality Check and saw that she made a number of very important points to consider and am thankful to women such as this for bringing these different pieces of news and understanding to the table for an attempt at helping women to receive the care they need in the future.

Women will best help themselves if they continue daily to educate themselves more and more and to look for ways that we can help one another in all aspects of our lives. We will do best in whatever we care about if we do not use subversive, manipulative, scare tactics, much like the men of the world have been using for centuries to keep us supressed so that they can retain their power. We have been turned against each other for far too long and it’s time for this kind of attitude of women against women in society to end. Men should be held accountable for their behaviors, attitudes and actions and women should support one another and continue to attempt to work toward a worlds where people of all sexes can live without the need for domination, manipulation and scare tactics against women.

This whole issue reminds me of a comment that a friend of mine used to make to me. She said, “Alicia, You don’t throw the baby out with the water.” In some cases, such as the situation described above and the scare tactics used to keep women from getting proper healthcare, I think she is very right. In others….I am not so sure….but definitely those words are often applicable and significantly useful when considering various points in life.

Balancing the Scales

Balancing the scales of “justice” is rather difficult in today’s world that is still geared toward the attitude that men have more rights and more excusability for their behaviors.

I came across a dramatic imbalance of “justice” when reading a grassroots political blog that posted a short piece about what women in Louisiana are going through right now. The group Women with a Vision is attempting to combat the beyond outrageous sentencing of women who work in the trade of selling their bodies for money.

Rather than punishing the men who have been putting women into slavery and who are purchasing and abusing the bodies of women for their own selfish gratification without regard to the concept that these women are actually human beings that they are harming and who have for various reasons felt forced into these trades or have literally been forced into these trades in large percentage…The state of Louisiana is punishing women who are caught working in this industry and putting the label of offender on their driver’s license….the very same label that people commonly recognize as the label of child molesters.

Yes people, now the molested are being labeled as the molesters and have this placed on their IDs and Driver’s Licenses for 10 years.

TEN YEARS OF CONDEMNATION FOR BEING ABUSED BY MEN

This is not a whole lot different than the women who have been rebuked in courtrooms for dressing in outfits that showed their ankles or thighs or that just clung too closely to their bodies when they were attempting to receive some sort of “justice” after having been violently raped.

THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN ARE STILL VERY MUCH NON-EXISTENT IN AMERICAN SOCIETY.

If you are at all outraged by this condemnation of women and complete lack of equality in the treatment of women compared to men….the men who, btw, do not have to have offender labels on their IDs and Driver’s Licenses for 10 years after using the services of the “adult” industry (a term that is in and of itself indicative of the despicable way that society has attempted to treat men who promote this industry as if they are doing any kind of normal “adult” thing) – If you are at all upset by this failure to balance the scales of “justice” – to punish women for being victimized, please contact the Women with a Vision organization that is fighting for this cause at (504) 301.0428 or email wwavinc@wwav.nocoxmail.com.

They have a website packed with all kinds of different info for helping women in our society in a variety of ways.

Let Her Jump Campaign

Let Her Jump Campaign is an effort that is being headed by Lindsey Van and Secret corporation (deodorant, etc.) to get the Olympic Winter Games to allow women to compete in ski jumping by the 2014 Olympics. If you click on the link at the beginning of this blog that is over the words “Let Her Jump Campaign” you will see a YouTube video that shows a variety of sports where women were not allowed to compete until many, many years after men had already been competing in the Olympics.

The fact that we are still being prevented from doing the things that we love and do best is a loud statement of the fact that sexism and prejudice against women’s equality and right is far from in our past yet.

Remarkable is the fact that so many people all across the world of both sexes still have no comprehension of the amount of work that women have to go through continuously, even in our modern-day times, in order to have the same rights as men.

Gender Equality in Olympic Sports

Gender equality still does not exist to the full extent anywhere in the world.

The term “feminist” still holds a negative connotation and the term “women’s libber” is still derogatively used across the globe.

How dare we expect any kind of equality in our efforts to pursue our dreams?! How dare we expect to receive equal treatment and opportunities?! How dare women stand up and demand their rights!!! How dare we?!

“All men are created equally.” – What? – Why is it considered a “minor point” that chauvinism is so all-pervasive in language and all aspects of life?

The only way that we will ever have a chance to fully overcome the limitations placed upon the women of the world is if we stand together and fight for our rights. No group in history has ever achieved equal rights or respect without standing firm and working together to demand their freedoms to pursue their dreams and be treated as equal individuals.

Somehow a concept of culture has been created that men are to protect women and that women are to take the dependent and submissive role while these men “protect” us. And ironically….who are they “protecting” us from??? They are “protecting” us from themselves and from ourselves. How demoralizing and degrading this concept is and how disgusting that we have been raised and trained to accept it as genuine good and “Godly” principles to be maintained in life.

It’s like the chauvinistic rulers of our world are the mafia of sorts against women. You “pay” us for the protection we will provide you from us. And even in such an environment, even with such a twisted outlook, they have failed miserably in this “protective” stance and their power over us and their decision-making ability to choose what we have a right to do and what we do not have a right to do must be ended!

They must be stopped!

Of course we love our sons and our brothers and our husbands, but this does not negate the importance for us to stand up and demand our rights as equal citizens of each of our countries that we reside in. Attitudes must be changed and women have to work together to accomplish our goals and eliminate the limitations placed upon us.

Here is one way that you can help. Don’t be a passive observer in life. There is no such thing as a passive observer. We are all members of our societies and of this world, whether we like it or not and the refusal to participate in accomplishing what is right is not being a passive observer. It is being a non-functioning member of society.

We have to acknowledge this fact, that each and every one of us is a part of this world and each and every one of us makes the difference in determining the number of supporters that any and all causes have, makes the difference in success or failure of attempts to end suffering and limitations of all sorts.

Do a little thing and help support the cause of allowing women to compete in sporting event even that they are capable of and enjoy thoroughly. Help end the smashing of little girls dreams. Click on the following link: Equal Rights in the Olympics and sign the petition, spread the word, and do whatever else you have a particular skill in doing to support this cause for women’s equality in the Olympics.

This is just one of the many little things that add up to helping women achieve their goals and dreams. Don’t let the opportunities that exist in your lifetime to help the progress of women in the world pass you by.

Each effort, regardless of the cause, makes a positive contribution to the foundation building aspect of gender equality.

Every day women are beaten physically, condemned emotionally, and limited from fulfilling their fullest potential during their lifetime by a wide variety of chauvinistic rules and attitudes.

Every living human being in this world, whether male or female, has the ability to add to the progress of the entire world, working toward a more harmonious and effective global society. Do not underestimate your impact. Both autonomously and as collective groups, every effort toward freedom, equality, progress and harmony has continuously made a difference for others in life to achieve more, to have more security physically and emotionally, to enable everything, from science to entertainment, to art, to business, to technology and so on… If every resource this world had in terms of people were thoroughly enacted to reach their potential, then we would already be far beyond many of the petty and horrific issues that confront the world today.

Do not be among the naysayers who “poo-poo” the idea that women still have a long way to go in order to achieve equality. Do not let apathy stop you from helping. Even if you don’t care about sports, consider this as just one of many different ways to contribute to an overall cause.

If you have a blog or a website, please write about this and link to the let her jump sites under text phrases such as “Winter Olympics.” If massive amounts of web pages used this method, the exposure this cause would achieve could be tremendous.

If you have any information on any active causes to help women achieve gender equality and if you have any news information that relates, please email womenspeak@thewomenoftheworld.com so that I can help you with those causes as well. Every little bit helps and hopefully this blog for women can do a little something to add to help the many issues that need to be addressed in women’s rights and in women helping women to succeed in our world.

My thanks to Carrie at www.jungroup.com for alerting me to this female ski jump information.

A quote from the interview with Lindsey Van: “Linsey Van has jumped farther than anyone else-Man or Woman-off the K90 ski jump in Vancouver. ” Go to their website to read the interview and learn more about this cause for women’s equality in Olympic sports.

Documentary Film for and by Women

Documentary film for and by women – this is the latest email of interest that I received today. I love getting these press releases about women’s news and emails about the different sites and information of interest to women and want to thank everyone who has been sending me tidbits. I realize that I haven’t been updating this blog or the Women of the World website much recently, but as with all things in life, there are ebbs and flows when one has a large number of responsibilities to tend to. I will attempt to get better with all of this. Currently, however, I am going through a bit of a technological training process that I hope will have an end result of enabling a much better environment for the promotion of ideas and distributing information.

You will notice that the first link in this women’s blog will direct you to the website of the group responsible for the new documentary film that this blog is ultimately discussing. Briefly though I want to mention the topic of link building. I would like to request that anyone who is interested in promoting the cause of gender equality and women’s rights will take a moment to link from their website or blog to both this website and to the Women of the World website at http://www.thewomenoftheworld.com

Both of these sites will get better and better in time and will be good resources to be linking to from your website. If you do this for these sites, please let me know and let me know what sites you are linking to these sites from. If your websites are credible websites that are relating to the cause of gender equality and women’s rights, etc. then I will be happy to link back to you. This is one technological way that women can support one another. Many people do not understand the importance of link building still, but a lot do by this point. One thing that is tragically missed is that when you are linking to a website, make sure that you use a hypertext link with the key words that people would be using when they typed a key phrase into a search engine in order to find those websites. Therefore, when linking to this website or the Women of the World website, please use the phrase “blog for women” or “gender equality” or “women’s issues” and so on. Take that phrase and make a hyperlink with the url starting with the http: (hypertext transfer protocol) portion of the web address and ending with the .com, or whatever extension the website you are linking to has (i.e. .org, .net, and so on….)

Let’s help one another in the online world, as well as in the many other aspects of our lives.

Back to Documentary for Women Talk

As I review the website, I see that there is a sort of spiritual cause involved in this documentary for women. When I received the email, my interest was immediately piqued just because I am a big fan of documentaries in general. I love to learn and documentaries that have substance are an excellent learning tool for retention and information sharing.

The documentary is about 13 indigenous grandmothers who all had similar visions that have united from different parts of the globe to attempt to form “a new global alliance.” The International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers

I have yet to watch the documentary itself, but have just now been watching the trailer, with some difficulty because of the slow speed today of my Internet connection, however, it seems like it may have been beautifully done, by what I have seen thus far.

If you are not offended by things of a spiritual nature, but have some interest, then you may want to check out their website. Otherwise, please check in occasionally to see what latest info and news pops up in relation to women, women’s issues, women’s rights and gender equality. This blog will continue to be all across the board in connection with those basic topics.

In time, the Women of the World website will also be made to be much more visually appealing and thoroughly informative as a great resource to turn to for all sorts of feminine matters and the promotion of women supporting women in this world that we all share.

Spider Veins: Women Generally Afflicted

In some of my recent writing research for companies that I do web content writing for I learned another unfortunate fact for women. Did you know that spider veins (not to be confused with varicose veins) occur in women much more commonly than in men?

Isn’t that grand?

Apparently, the female hormone, estrogen is directly linked to one of the causes of spider veins. It is written that men sometimes get what appears to be spider veins, but are actually just blow-outs from varicose veins and overall, women experience the largest percentage of suffering from spider vein discomfort (both emotional and physical) by far.

Spider veins become physically uncomfortable from the “feeder veins,” which are the deeper source of the problem.

Women, who have been raised to put such a high level of importance upon their physical appearance, commonly suffer from spider veins on both their legs, ankles, face and nose.

Lovely, isn’t it, that we should have the priveledge of childbirth pains, the social and internal pressures to be the best moms and not “mess up our children,” nowadays often support everyone in our family financially, while combatting the glass ceiling where men think they can get away (and have been getting away with…)with paying us less for the same amount or more work and effort, attempting to protect ourselves in a society that objectifies women and creates a larger danger and higher incidence of rape, sexual molestation and sexual harrassment in the work environment and elsewhere, tend to our households to keep them neat, tidy, and bug-free, often falling into the trap of dealing with the day-to-day workload of pampering male egos because of the consistent need we have in our society to break free from the training that we have received to perform such tasks, and so much more….we also get to enjoy lovely little extras like the addition of spider veins to our skin to poke at and increase any physical insecurities we may have while living in a world which glorifies the objectification of women and unrealistic expectations upon women for physical beauty and pleasant social behaviors.

Of course, there is treatment available now for such things where there was not in the past, but for those who can afford it, of course… Sorry kids! It’s beans and rice this year because mommy needs to be beautiful and get rid of these spider veins on her face that are impeding her progress in a society structured to cater to only the flawless women of the world…

Hmmmm…… I think I’ll fit that treatment in around taking the dogs to the vet, picking up the kids from school, working over-time on the job, catering to my husband’s emotional needs, washing the dishes and writing checks to the IRS for the latest tax increase on my home…. Somewhere between 2 & 3 PM on Tuesday in October of 2012 should be about right….

Apparently, there are some ways to minimize the risk of spider vein incurrence and spread. These include:

Avoid prolonged sitting and standing (don’t work as a cashier or waitress or in a retail store)

Exercise daily (always a healthy choice)

Wear support compression hose (attractive?? probably not….)

Maintain ideal body weight (don’t let the stress of the pressures of life affect your eating habits…beneficial on many levels and often easier said than done)

Move your legs frequently

Avoid excessive heat on your legs such as long baths and hot tubs (what about much needed relaxation??)

Don’t wear binding clothing (stop trying to look sexy with tight clothes…there are lots of comfortable clothing options that aren’t binding that you can still feel good in while wearing….)

None of these “helpful tips for women” can possibly influence the prevention of face and nose spider veins, however….

At any rate….this has just been your latest “A Blog for Women” health and news update today…. Spider Veins Generally Affect Women – Much More Often Than Men….

We are all going through these things together fellow women…. For all that we must endure, let’s make life a bit easier on ourselves by women supporting one another both emotionally and in business networks so that we can minimize the stresses, which we do have control over in our lives if we just support one another in the professional and personal world that we live in.
